Pioneer’s return to the European TV market is real - albeit in a different form than last time. The new TVs are now available in the Nordic countries in 40, 46, and 55 inch sizes with Full HD resolution, Smart TV with Netflix, and 3D. They are expected in the UK in “early 2014”.
New 40-55” Pioneer TVs launched
Pioneer was once hailed for making the best TVs on the market, but things did not work out financially so the Japanese company was forced to pull out. Dixons – who owns PC World and Currys – has licensed the Pioneer brand to produce TVs. The “Pioneer” TVs are now available in the Nordic countries with a UK release expected in “early 2014”.

Three models exits in 40, 46, and 55 inch sizes. They all use LCD panels with edge LED backlighting, which means that they are slim and power efficient. The bezel around the LCD panel has been reduced to a minimum and the stand is discreet.
The technical specifications reveal Full HD LCD panels of the VA type that is known to produce deep blacks, as well as built-in DVB-T and DVB-C tuners for antenna and cable TV channels. Certain Smart TV features will be available, including a Netflix app and a web browser. Lastly, the TVs boast DLNA streaming capabilities, USB recording (requires a USB hard drive), and a 3D mode.
Pioneer’s 55" TV (L55S3D13N) sells for 9,999 Danish Kroner, which is roughly 1350 Euro or 1100 UK pounds. The 40 and 46” versions are sold for 6,999 DKK (785 Euro) and 7,999 DKK (900 Euro).
