Samsung had brought a few new monitors to CES 2014, including two 31.5 and 28-inch 4K monitors called UD970 and UD590, and their first curved LCD monitor.
Two 4K and one curved
The UD970 is a 31.5-inch monitor with 3840x2160 pixel resolution designed for graphics and video professionals. It uses Samsung’s PLS panel (very similar to IPS) and comes pre-calibrated (color delta <1) from the factory.
It boasts quite impressive color gamut support, including sRGB, AdobeRGB, DCI, EBU, REC709, SMPTE, and DICOM. Samsung says that it can reproduce 10-bit colors, meaning 1.07 billion color shades. It also has a color management suite and can be divided into four separate windows, if you connect an input signal to each of the 2xDisplayPort, 1xHDMI, and 1xDVI ports.

Samsung also unveiled the UD590, which is a smaller 28-inch monitor with the same 3840x2160 pixel resolution. The small poster next to it only offered a few details, but it did reveal that the panel has a 2 ms (g2g) response time.
No panel type was listed, but based on the response time figure it is mostly likely a TN panel, probably the same one that is used in Dell and Asus’ cheap 4K monitors. Additionally, UD570 has two HDMI and one DisplayPort, including an unspecified game mode. It supports picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture, too.
Samsung’s first curved PC monitor
Lastly, Samsung unveiled their first – slightly - curved PC monitor. It is a 27-inch LCD monitor with LED backlighting. It does not offer 4K resolution, but instead 1920x1080 pixels. Samsung says that it has a PLS panel and, 5 ms (g2g) response time as well as two HDMI (with MHL) and one DisplayPort. No more details were announced, and the monitor does not seem to have a model name yet.
