Prices for Samsung's SUHD TVs reportedly leaked

Samsung will launch three “S’UHD” TVs with quantum dot technology in 2015, dubbed JS9500, JS9000 and JS8500. Prices for the three high-end models have now leaked ahead of the launch, according to a report from HDGuru.

HDGuru has leaked TV prices before, and even though manufacturers sometimes adjust pricing, the reports have been fairly accurate in the past. And so here are the “suggested retail prices” for the new 2015 high-end Samsung TVs.

48” UN48JS8500 - $2499
55” UN55JS8500 - $2999
65” UN65JS8500 - $3999

48” UN48JS9000 - $3499
55” UN55JS9000 - $3999
65” UN65JS9000 - $4999

65” UN65JS9500 - $5999
78” UN78JS9500 - $9499 (not confirmed, based on Korean price ratio)

JS9500 has a full-array LED backlight with local dimming, making it capable of reproducing HDR (high dynamic range) that is also part of the new Ultra HD Blu-ray standard. It can also reproduce colors close to the DCI color space used in movie theatres. Samsung says that JS9000 will also support HDR, but it has no local dimming so expect the HDR pictures to be less intense. The JS8500 is an Ultra HD TV without HDR support.

Samsung will also launch cheaper TVs. Expect the first 2015 models to hit stores in March.
