Pay-per-view video service M-Go will start offering movies in 4K with HDR (high dynamic range) later this year, according to Twice. M-Go promises a wide selection of titles at launch.
M-Go to offer 4K HDR
M-Go is a joint venture between Technicolor and Dreamworks, and was launched as a streaming service a few years ago. They recently started offering movies in 4K for Samsung owners, and later this year they will add HDR (high dynamic range) to the mix.
M-Go “will launch not with two to three titles but a full selection,” COO Christophe Louvion told Twice. He adds that there will be several dozen from the beginning and that the selection “will build up quickly”.
M-Go will join Netflix and Amazon in offering 4K HDR content this year. The company is also part of the UHD Alliance and says that it will use the Alliance’s HDR standard. Earlier today we reported that M-Go will support Vidity’s specification to let you download 4K movies onto a secure hard drive. It is unclear if that is how M-Go will offer 4K HDR.
M-Go is offering movies and TV shows via apps on Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Vizio, TCL, and media players from Roku. It is also available on iOS and Android. You can either rent or purchase movies.
