From the revamped ’TV & Video’ section you can buy or rent movies from the PlayStation Store. It also gives you easier access to international apps such as Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube as well as local apps for your region.
’TV & Video’ on PlayStation
The redesigned app is meant to be a one-stop for all your video needs on PlayStation. It features content on the main scream and lets you open other apps from the apps row.
- ”The new TV & Video experience will help you find your favourites and discover new and exciting content from the PS4 streaming video services, all in one location. Instead of jumping in and out of all your different apps, find the best video on PS4 from one convenient spot,” the company said.
At the moment, only select apps can feature content on the main screen but Sony is working on getting more included in the near future. Netflix and Amazon are not yet supported so you will have to open their apps individually. Examples of apps that let the ‘TV & Video app’ pull out content to the main screen are NOW TV in the UK and Viaplay in the Nordics.
From the ’TV & Video’ screen you can also buy and rent movies from the PlayStation Store. Movies are available in SD and HD quality but not yet 4K and HDR.
The refresh of ’TV & Video’ is available in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom.
