A few days ago we gave you details on Philips’ new 7000, 6000 and 4000 TVs and today we can reveal Philips’ 8000 TV range. It comes with a sleek design, Ambilight Spectre XL, LED and active Max 3D technology.

Philips has made an effort to create slim and minimalistic TVs in 2012, and has slimmed down the TV bezel considerably. The new slim design starts from the 7000 TV range and is also used in the new 8000 TVs.

The 8000 TV range will offer Philips’ unique TV technologies such as Ambilight Spectre XL, as well as Philips’ Perfect Pixel HD picture engine that processes all pictures sent to the TV.

The 8000 TVs support 3D with the 3D Max technology. 3D Max is of the active 3D kind that requires shutter glasses with batteries. 2D-to-3D conversion has been enabled as well and Philips boasts a Dual-View full screen technology that allows two viewers to see different images on the same TV using 3D glasses. The 8000 models will be available up to 55 inches.

Philips furthermore boasts a 2x20W speaker system, and a new Smart TV premium platform with TV apps, video-on-demand, Skype, USB recording, and push streaming of content from smartphones or tablets to the TV screen. The Smart TV Premium platform will have a new user interface in 2012, seen below.

Philips has developed a new remote control that comes bundled with all 7000 and 8000 series TVs. The new remote is very different from the small, oval-shaped one that has been used in the past few years. Notice how the backside of the new remote control has a full QWERTY keyboard that should help you type in letters when renting movies or searching for videos on YouTube.

Philips’ 8000 TVs will not be available until September 2012 – possibly during IFA 2012 in Berlin. The 8000 TV range will be available in 40, 46 and 55 inches called 40PFL8007, 46PFL8007 and 55PFL8007.
