At IFA, Samsung announced a new addition to its Ultra HD line-up. JU6800 is a 6 series TV but it still incorporates the quantum dot technology of the much more expensive SUHD TVs. It is available in 50, 55 and 60 inch sizes.
Samsung JU6800 announced
Samsung brought its first Ultra HD Blu-ray player to IFA and expanded the SUHD line-up in Europe with a new flat JS8000 TV. The company will also introduce a mid-range Ultra HD TV, which takes cues from the high-end SUHD models.
JU6800 (JU68xx, depending on your region) will be the first of Samsung’s mid-range TVs to include quantum dot technology that can expand the color gamut. And with an update later this year Samsung will enable HDR support, including HDMI 2.0a. You might wonder why the TV is not part of the SUHD line then? It does not have a 10-bit LCD panel, Samsung tells us.
Besides that the TV comes with the Tizen operating system, a quad-core processor, WiFi, four HDMI ports, and most of Samsung’s “smart” features. It uses a flat LCD panel.
Samsung’s JU6800 will be available this month in 50” UE50JU6800, 55” UE55JU6800 and 60” UE60JU6800 for 1400, 1700 and 2500 Euro, respectively. No launch details were announced for the US.
