Logitech’s latest $249 universal remote offers a combination of physical buttons and a touch screen. The touch screen can be programmed in different ways and for example show all your favorite TV channels.

You can control most new TVs with your smartphone or tablet but the apps are not exactly impressive and Logitech believes that there is still room for a good old traditional universal remote. The Harmony Touch is the first remote from Logitech that has a real touch screen that lets users scroll and swipe; just like on a smartphone.

Harmony Touch has a few physical buttons that are complemented by a touch-screen. The touch screen can be customized to fit your needs and for example show you all your favorite TV channels with small TV logos or let you easily switch from TV watching to music listening. The physical buttons are backlit so you can even operate in the dark.

Logitech says that the database includes more than 5000 brands and more than 225,000 products, so you should be able to find your products. The remote uses infrared beams. No RF support has been added. It can control up to 15 devices simultaneously, ranging from TVs and media boxes to music players.
Logitech Harmony Touch will be widely available in Europe and USA later this month and cost around $249 USD.
