Where is that rumored Apple TV? It is coming in 2015 at the earliest, according to a TV supply chain analyst at DisplaySearch. Apple is said to have trouble securing the content deals.
Analyst: Apple TV coming in 2015
Paul Gagnon, director of North American TV Research at DisplaySearch has published a report with the latest supply chain rumors about the rumored Apple TV set. He claims that Apple had aimed for a product introduction in the second half of 2014 with 2-3 large screen sizes and 4K resolution, but that plans are now “put on hold again”. The article said that Apple will likely push the introduction into 2015 at the earliest, but the report has since been since been edited with no notice.
The Apple TV is coming in 2015 or later, according to an analyst
Okay, so a few things that we want to bring to attention here. DisplaySearch is renowned and respected. They are not the usual Wall Street financial analysts. They run a solid industry analyst firm and they have good sources in the TV supply chain. Therefore, it is also weird that the report says that the “hangup has always been the content”, and still is. How would they know? They are display supply chain analysts. The TV component supply chain companies have no information regarding Apple’s content deals or plans.
Paul Gagnon also says that Apple’s TV plans have been put on hold, possibly to be replaced by a rollout of wearable devices. Maybe, maybe not, but why not both? Everyone can speculate, but let us say that 2015 is the year, can analysts of all flavors then please stop spreading new rumors about the Apple TV launch date throughout 2014? No more “the Apple TV is delayed” rumors. How can an unannounced product even be delayed?
