Infuse 5.7 includes Plex integration, refreshed look on Apple TV

19 Apr 2018 | Rasmus Larsen |

The latest update for the Infuse app adds Plex integration, allowing you to watch movies stored on a Plex server. Version 5.7 also includes a refreshed user interface on Apple TV.

Infuse + Plex

Infuse does not require media server software to be installed on your storage device but if you happen to have a Plex media server set up, Infuse can now connect directly to it and access your movie library – at home and away.

- ”Our friends using Plex can now access videos (while home or away) and keep libraries, metadata, artwork, and watched history all in sync. Also, thanks to Infuse's robust codec support, you'll be able to enjoy videos in their full, original quality (including glorious 4K HDR and lossless audio). No transcoding required – just browse, play, and enjoy!”, said FireCore, the company behind Infuse.

If you are not familiar with Infuse or Plex, think os them as user-friendly media player apps that can access network hard drives or PCs. That allows you get access your library of movies and other types of media content on a TV or mobile device. Much like Kodi.

You can of course continue to use Infuse or Plex as you were using them before but the integration enhances user choice.

Refreshed look on Apple TV

With version 5.7 Infuse is also rolling out a refreshed user interface on Apple TV as well as improved favorites and lists features.

- ”Infuse on Apple TV has gotten a shiny new design, which features some slick new options for Favorites and Lists. Favorites have been around for awhile, and Lists are rows of content which appear right on the home screen. These can be used for just about anything, including Recently Added Movies, Unwatched TV Shows, or Action Movies. Whatever you're into, Lists are a great way to place categories you frequently use front and center,” the company exlplained.

Infuse version 5.7 is available now as a free update and also includes a couple of other new features and bug fixes.
