The Philips Hue Sync app creates ”surround sound for your eyes” by syncing Philips Hue lighting with games, movies, and music on your PC/Mac monitor. The app is available globally for free.

Philips Hue Sync

Signify, previously Philips Lighting, has today launched the Philips Hue Sync app. It will be free on Windows 10 and macOS Sierra and allows you to syncronize Philips Hue lighting with games, movies, and music.

- "Following several entertainment pilots, we've refined the way lighting can be used with games, music and video. Philips Hue Sync offers a unique way to simply match light effects to consumers' content in a fast and synchronized way, delivering an engaging, immersive experience," said Jasper Vervoort, Head of Marketing & Product Management, Signify. "By working with leading players in the entertainment industry, we can take this even further. The premiere music video from Disney's DCappella band, "Immortals," demonstrates the power of a perfect sync."

The company believes that the Amiblight-like effect can deliver ”an unprecedented level of spatial immersion” where your surroundings light up to complement the action on-screen. The user can choose between different modes: Subtle, Moderate, High and Intense

The mood lighting effect can also be adjusted to fit the type of media content including the music genre.

- ”Imagine you're playing an action game and your lights mimic the explosions on the screen. Or, when watching a stunning sunset in a movie, have your living room bathed in the same violet, orange and yellow hues you see on the screen,” the company said.

Imitate Ambilight on your TV

As you may know, Philips TVs are equipped with the mood lighting Ambilight, which can also sync up with Philips Hue lighting in your living room.

The company says that you can create an Ambilight-like effect on other brands of TVs with the Philips Hue Sync app by connecting a PC/Mac to the TV screen via Airplay, Chromecast, Miracast or HDMI.

You can learn more and download the app on meethue.com. To get started you also need Philips Hue products.
