If you own the new Chromecast with Google TV you may want to update to the latest software as it includes various fixes relating to 4K, Dolby Atmos, stability, and security.
Dolby Atmos, 4K fixes
Google has started rolling out software update version 200918.033, which is the company's first update in 2021 for the new Google TV-powered Chromecast with a full TV user interface.
The update includes improved 4K support for both TVs and AVRs as well as a fix for Dolby Atmos passthrough that could prevent Atmos signalling. The changelog also mentions security, stability, and performance fixes as well as a fix for those users who are getting the Android recovery screen.
Chromecast with Google TV
Chromecast with Google TV was launched in late 2020 and is currently available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and some parts of Europe. It is expected to launch in many more regions throughout 2021.
The company noted that its "firmware updates are done in stages". Go to Settings -> System -> About -> System update to check for new updates.
