Apple's music streaming service, Apple Music, is now playing on the PlayStation 5, making it the first console to offer the service with over 90 million songs and music videos in 4K resolution.

You should probably not use a game console like PS5 as your main device for music due to its very high power consumption but Sony has also integrated the ability to use Apple Music for background music during gameplay sessions.

- "PS5 users with an Apple Music subscription can enjoy more than 90 million songs from Apple Music, tens of thousands of curated playlists, music videos in 4K, Apple Music Radio streaming today’s hits, classics, and country live, and personalized playlists based on your music preferences," said Erin Metzger, Director of Product Management, SIE. "PS5 offers seamless integration with the Apple Music streaming service with background music and music video playback, so players can listen before, during, or after their gameplay session."



PS5 is the first game console to offer Apple Music that can be downloaded from the Media section on the console. PS5 also has deep Spotify integration.

Apple Music is not available on PS4. There is no word on Apple Music for Xbox either.

Apple and Sony appear to recently have found common ground. Apple has added support for Sony's DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers on the Apple TV boxes, and PS5 also offers access to Apple TV+. However, Sony's game streaming service, PlayStation Now, is still nowhere to be found on Apple's devices.
