Google's game streaming service, Google Stadia, is now available on LG's LCD TVs ('NanoCell', 'QNED') and OLED TVs running webOS 5.0 and 6.0. The app supports 4K HDR game streaming.

Stadia on LG Smart TVs

At CES in January 2021, LG and Google shared the news that Stadia would be coming to LG TVs this year. Just as the year is about the end, Google Stadia has arrived. - "LG Electronics (LG) announces the availability of Google’s cloud gaming service Stadia on its Smart TVs running webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0 in twenty-two countries. Native support of Stadia gameplay on LG Smart TVs helps deliver instant access to high-end games with support for exceptional graphics and frame rates on cutting-edge displays," announced LG.

The app is available on LG TVs in all 22 countries where Stadia is currently available, and it supports game streaming in up to 4K resolution with 60fps and HDR10 (required Stadia Pro subscription). The app also supports 5.1 surround sound on LG TVs. The app is only available on LG TVs from 2020 (webOS 5.0) and 2021 (webOS 6.0). Google Stadia is a subscription service where the subscription gives you access to the game streaming technology and a handful of games – around 30 – to claim and play. All other games must be purchased on an individual basis. The store features over 200 games like Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Village, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Hitman 3, and Baldur’s Gate 3. Nvidia's game streaming service, GeForce Now, also recently came to LG TVs. Game streaming services allow users to play games rendered on a remote server and streamed to the TV over the internet – no console is required.

Compatible controllers

To play Stadia on an LG TV you need to first connect a compatible controller. Supported controllers include the Stadia controller, PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, and Xbox controllers. Controllers can be connected wirelessly over Bluetooth or wired over USB. More information can be found here. - "When you link a Stadia Controller to a compatible TV, the controller can only be used to navigate the Stadia app. To navigate other sections of your TV interface, connect a Bluetooth controller or use the TV remote that came with your device," said Google. The Google Stadia app is available now from the content store on compatible LG TVs. All new Stadia users can claim a one month trial subscription to Stadia Pro after which the Pro subscription will cost $10 per month in the US, €10 per month in Europe, and £9 per month in the UK.
