Samsung has today announced that its 2022 Smart TVs will feature a redesigned homescreen with a new 'Gaming Hub' that will provide access to Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia and Utomik.

Game streaming in Samsung TVs

Samsung is bringing game streaming to its 2022 TVs as part of a new Gaming Hub. The company did not say if GeForce Now, Google Stadia and Utomik apps will also come to 2021, 2020 or any earlier Samsung TVs. - "The Samsung Gaming Hub will empower players to discover and jump into the games they love faster through game streaming services. Players will have access to an extensive library of games through Samsung’s partnerships with industry leaders – NVIDIA GeForce Now, Stadia and Utomik – and that’s just the beginning," announced Samsung. Samsung first announced its plans to launch a cloud gaming platform in October but did not provide many details back then. The company has not commented on technical details such as 4K, 120fps, and HDR support.

The new Gaming Hub on Samsung 2022 TVs is part of a redesigned Tizen homescreen in full screen with a new sidebar menu. There is also a large "sponsored" spot for ads. - "Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs come with a new Smart Hub that puts content curation and discovery front and center with their viewing preferences. The new Smart Hub will guide users to their favorite content or help them discover something new all while spending less time searching. The Smart Hub’s sidebar also allows for a seamless transition between categories – Media, Game (Gaming Hub) and Ambient – letting users focus on various in-home activities," the company explained.

It is not the first time that cloud streaming has been available on Samsung Smart TVs. In 2012, Samsung partnered with Gaikai to bring cloud gaming to its Smart TVs but Gaikai was shuttered soon after when Sony acquired the company. PlayStation Now was also available for a few years on some Samsung Smart TVs. Samsung will reveal more details about its 2022 TV line-up at CES 2022 next week.
