LG Electronics is still exploring the concept of a transparent OLED TV but it will not launch before 2024 at the earliest, according to a report by Korean newspaper TheElec.
Xiaomi launched a 55-inch transparent OLED TV, based on an LG Display panel, called Mi Lux in 2020 but it did not catch on with consumers. LG Display has in 2022 pitched a similar idea to LG Electronics, the consumer electronics brand under LG.
It will not happen in 2023 but LG continues to explore the concept, a report from Korea claimed this week.
- "A transparent OLED TV will involve LG Electronics covering the transparent OLED panel with reinforced glass," reported The Elec. "LG Electronics also believes it needs to think over the exterior of such a TV model, the sources said."

LG has attempted to use OLED technology as a platform for display innovation such curved displays, 'wallpaper' thin displays, rollable displays, and flexible displays. At this time, none of the novel concepts have gained widespread adoption.
On the other hand, more traditional TVs based on OLED have proven to be succesful.
