Mini, Plus, Max. Sennheiser now has three soundbars with the launch of the Ambeo Mini that will be available starting tomorrow for $800.

Like its bigger and more expensive soundbars, German audio brand Sennheiser's new Ambeo Mini supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MPEG-H and Sony's 360 Reality Audio – four object-based audio formats.

Sennheiser says that its most compact soundbar virtualizes up to 7.1.4-channels through four full-range drivers and dual four-inch subwoofers (down to 43 Hz) for a total effect of 250W. The .4 requires external subwoofers.

FlatpanelsHD has already reviewed the Ambeo Max and listened to the Ambeo Plus and while the virtualization works reasonably well we still missed rear speakers. Also note that the Mini does not have up-firing units.

HDMI eARC, Night Mode
At $800, Ambeo Mini is priced to compete with the likes of Sonos Arc. The major difference is that while Sonos allows users to add additional speakers, Ambeo is more restricted supporting only Ambeo subwoofers (up to four), but no rear speakers.

Ambeo Mini measures 70 x 10 x 6.5 cm in size and features an HDMI eARC port. There is also a Night Mode and built-in microphones for room calibration and Alexa voice commands.

Google Assistant and Siri voice commands are supported via external devices, as both Chromecast and AirPlay are built-in.

The Sennheiser Ambeo Mini goes on sale starting September 1 for $800 / €799 / £699. The Plus costs $1500 and the Max $2500.
