Toshiba says that the plans have been freezed and that the plans will now have to be reviewed. Instead Toshiba will focus on LCD-TV and their new Jacob Jensen Design TVs.

Toshiba and Panasonic has posted 191 million U.S. dollars in the construction of an OLED production line in Japan, focused on production for mobile phone displays. It’s unclear how Panasonic plans to react after Toshiba's announcement.

Still plenty of support for OLED

Even though Toshiba has shelved the plans for OLED mass production the technology still has support from major innovators such as Samsung, LG, and Sony. Many smaller manufacturers also believe in OLED for both displays and lighting solutions.
