30 Dec 2015 | Rasmus Larsen |

The first Ultra HD Blu-ray players will be available in early 2016 and at the same time Warner will release its first four titles on the new disc format. Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie and Pan will all be available in 4K and HDR.

35 titles by the end of 2016

Ultra HD Blu-ray has the capacity to deliver 4K resolution, HDR (high dynamic range), a wider color space, and immersive sound. Warner will take advantage of all four elements to elevate the movie experience to new heights.

The first four titles from Warner Bros. will be Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie and Pan. These will be available in early 2016. In the months to follow, Warner will expand the catalogue with new theatrical titles as well as catalog titles such as Man of Steel and Pacific Rim.

By the end of 2016, Warner expects to have 35 titles available on UHD Blu-ray. Select titles will also feature Dolby Atmos audio.

- "Ultra HD with HDR is the next, and most exciting, advancement in home entertainment, and with the anticipated proliferation of Ultra HD televisions in the coming years, our Ultra HD Blu-ray product offerings will truly complement the stunning capabilities of this new generation of home entertainment hardware. Warner Bros. is fully committed to releasing a wide range of Ultra HD Blu-ray titles, including both new release titles and offerings from our vast catalog," said Ron Sanders, President of Warner Home Entertainment.

Some of Warner’s movies are already available in 4K and HDR on streaming services and the studio says that future titles will be available on both discs and streaming services.

Sony Pictures has already announced its first titles. 20th Century Fox will also bring several movies to UHD Blu-ray (1 2).
