Sony has updated PlayStation 5 to support Dolby Atmos in games and apps. Here are the first PS5 games that can be enjoyed in Dolby's most advanced audio format.
Sony's implementation of Dolby Atmos in PS5 is twofold. It is explained in more detail in this article, but in brief:
- All games that utilize Sony's own Tempest 3D AudioTech work automatically in Dolby Atmos output to HDMI devices.
- Existing or new games can be updated or created with a bespoke Dolby Atmos mix.
So far, there are no examples of the latter, but given that Dolby Atmos is already supported on Xbox, it seems likely that some game developers will streamline their development process in the future.
To activate Dolby Atmos on your PS5, go to Settings -> Sound -> Audio Output -> Audio Format (Priority) -> Dolby Atmos.
Note: Be aware that PS5 supports Dolby Atmos only with HDMI devices, not headphones. Atmos game audio is transmitted as Dolby MAT 2.0 (PCM with Atmos metadata), which means your TV must support HDMI eARC (regular ARC is not sufficient) or alternatively you must pass the PS5's HDMI signal through a receiver/soundbar before reaching the TV. If none of those two scenarios are possible, significant audio delay may occur with Atmos game audio from PS5 (and Xbox).

Some games were shipped with Tempest 3D Audio while others have had it added through a next-gen update such as Cyberpunk 2077
First PS5 games with Dolby Atmos
As such, the initial list of PS5 games that work with Dolby Atmos are games that already use the Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Those games are, according to Sony and game developers:
- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
- Astro's Playroom
- Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Days Gone
- Death Stranding Director's Cut
- Demon's Souls
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- Destruction: AllStars
- F1 22
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Grand Theft Auto V
- GTA Online
- Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut
- Ghostwire: Tokyo
- Gran Turismo 7
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Horizon: Forbidden West
- Hunter's Arena: Legends
- Immortals Fenyx Rising
- Marvel's Avengers
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- MLB: The Show 21
- MLB: The Show 22
- MLB: The Show 23
- Need for Speed Unbound
- No Man's Sky
- Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil 4: Remake
- Resident Evil: Village
- Returnal

- Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Spider-Man: Remastered
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
- The Last of Us: Part I

- Wild Hearts
It is worth adding that some PS4 games advertise '3D audio,' but this is not sufficient. There are also PS5 games that advertise 'spatial audio', '3D audio' or similar, but this is not necessarily Tempest and if it is not then they will not work with Dolby Atmos on PS5.
