Breaking from tradition the new 20 inch 2033SW monitor from Samsung offers a 16:9 (instead of 16:10) resolution of 1600x900 pixels.
The 16:9 aspect ratio seems to be replacing the computer aspect ratio 16:10, creating convergence between the TV and PC marked. Samsung has just released information on their new 16:9 aspect ratio 20 inch screen called 2033SW which will be introduced in SyncMaster line-up.
2033SW is a new PC monitor from Samsung designed in a glossy black look. At the bottom a glass-like border has been added, similar to some of Samsung’s new TV models.

Other technical features include a contrast ratio of 1000:1 (15000:1 dynamic), brightness of 300 cd/m2, a response time of 5 ms and viewing angles of 170/160 degrees.
The screen is based on the inexpensive TN panel technology.
The monitor can be connected by analogue D-SUB (VGA) connection or digital DVI connection that also supports HDCP copy protection.
The price and launch date is still unknown. Samsung 2033SW is launched initially on the Japanese market but is expected to be part of the 2009 line-up for the European market.
