Sony might exhibit larger OLED-TV on IFA 2009

14 May 2009 | Rasmus Larsen |

Sony has already released the first OLED-TV on the market with their 11"XEL-1 that we will review soon. And although Sony has reported that they might not release larger OLED-TVs in the near future, rumour has it that Sony might exhibit a large OLED-TV on the IFA 2009 fair in Berlin in September.

Sony is one of the proponents of the OLED technology and unlike Samsung Sony has a real product on the market. They have also previously exhibited a 27 inch OLED-TV.

According to some people - quoted by the Korean news service KoreaTimes - Sony will present a 2. generation OLED TV on the huge Berlin fair. They speculate that it might be the 27" OLED-TV that Sony has presented as a prototype some time ago or a new 21" model which Sony also recently presented as a prototype. According to KoreaTimes the name will be XEL-2.

Finally, some people expect Sony to present even larger OLED prototypes but this is just a wild guess.

We really look forward to the IFA 2009 in Berlin. FlatpanelsHD will be on the spot to report everything you need to know. We also covered the huge CES 2009 in Las Vegas back in January.
