Philips presents 3. generation Aurea

Philips wants to use the upcoming IFA 2009 fair in Berlin to present the third generation of their ultimate Ambilight television: Aurea.
Our Danish site, FlatpanelsDK, did a review on the first version of Philips Aurea some time ago. Since then, Philips introduced Aurea 2 and now the third generation of Aurea is coming. Philips will reveal the new Aurea TV at IFA 2009 in Berlin in September 2009.

Philips Aurea is the ultimate manifestation of Ambilight, and the third edition builds on this concept, too, but will incorporate some new technical features as well. Aurea 3 will initially launch in a 40-inch version but it is believed that other sizes will follow.

New elements include Philips Net TV, an Internet system that provides access to services such as YouTube and updates on weather and news.
Net TV also enables the user to surf the Internet from the built-in browser.
Philips new Aurea model features DLNA as well, which wirelessly streams content such as music, movies and photos directly to the screen from a PC at home on your wireless home network. It also features 5 HDMI inputs.Ambilight The Ambilight system consists of 252 LEDs illuminates the Aurea’s transparent framework with colours according to the picture on the screen. It helps calming the eyes and intensifies the atmosphere in the movie. The Ambilight is also projected onto the wall behind the Aurea TV.

Other technical features include a Full HD panel and 100Hz technology. The TV will also have a small extra remote control used to handle the most basic functions.
The new Philips Aurea model is called 40PFL9904H. The price will be 4000 Euro.
