The Apple iMac is a monitor with an integrated Mac. Here on FlatpanelsHD we’re not particularly interested in the Mac/PC hardware but multi-touch display panels are of great interest. According to Chinese Commercial Times, Apple has a 22-inch iMac coming with a multi-touch LCD panel.
Multi-touch monitor from Apple
Apple has developed some interesting monitor solutions recently with the 24-inch LED Cinema Display and the iMac with the 2560x1440 pixel 27-inch LCD panel.
According to Chinese Commercial Times Apple now has a 22-inch iMac coming. The panel on the new iMac will feature the multi-touch technology, just like on the iPhone. This means that you can control your new Apple monitor with your fingertips for an easy and intuitive interface.

The same source also says the it is the Taiwanese manufacturer Sintek Photronic that will provide Apple with the multi-touch panel.
It’s not yet known if the 22-inch iMac is real and we have no indications as to the panel type. We expect a TN or e-IPS panel.
Sintek Photronic is currently manufacturing multi-touch panels based on the capacitive technology. The capacitive multi-touch technology is the one used in iPhone and is considered the best technology for touch sensitive panels.
