Acer’s brand new D241H will revolutionize the way we use a PC monitor – at least according to Acer. The 24-inch monitor has built-in Wi-Fi, media player and widgets that let you browse web content via different services - even without a PC connected.

We all know the Apple iMacs that are monitors with a built-in computer. Acer wants to do kind of the same thing but also do it quite differently from Apple's approach.
Acer has not integrated a PC into their new monitor. Instead, they have incorporated Wi-Fi (and wired) and widgets. This allows the users to access the internet, check e-mails or play back music and video via different services, without having a PC connected to the D241H.

It sort of reminds us of the widget-based TVs that were introduced on CES 2010 but now as a monitor solution. At the moment Acer is running alone with this but let’s see where they’re headed.
D241H also has built-in photo frame functionality, world clock and a calendar.
The bezel has been made from glossy black plastic.
Technical specifications
Acer D241H can also be used as a traditional PC monitor and features a 1920x1080 panel and 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The response time is 2 ms (G2G) and then D241H comes with both HDMI and DVI input.
Acer D241H will be available very soon. The price has not been disclosed.
