At IFA 2010 Philips has introduces their new Econova TV, Europe’s greenest LED based TV, with a solar remote control. Econova has been awarded European Green TV 2010-2011 by the EISA committee because it takes a holistically approach to energy consumption.

As Europe’s greenest TV, Philips Econova LED TV uses LED lighting technology to reduce energy consumption by up to 60% – the lowest in its category – without compromising picture quality, Philips says. In its Eco mode the TV only consumes around 40 W.

And with Econova LED TV, off is really off. Its Zero power switch means that – unlike other TVs on the market – when you switch your TV off, power consumption is reduced to 0 watt.
Econova LED TV is made from materials that are easy to recycle and have been used before. Even so, Econova LED TV exudes quality thanks to its solid aluminum housing.

Its solar powered remote control reduces the impact on the environment even further, recharging from a freely available source of energy, natural daylight, meaning batteries do not need to be replaced or disposed of.
The TV also has a 2-in-1 stand that can function as a regular stand and as a wall mounting solution.
Philips Econova 42PFL6805H is available in 42 inches in Europe from September. No price has been announced yet.
