Sony has demonstrated e-Paper (electronic paper) prototypes before and LG has recently announced that they will start mass production of e-Paper panels. Here’s Sony's latest e-Paper prototype.

Sony's e-Paper prototype has been exhibited on a technical presentation, and the product is larger than previous e-Paper prototypes. The screen is even extremely flexible and can bend without taking damage, since it has been created on a plastic substrate. At the moment the panel is black/white but there are color e-Paper panels in production as well.

The manufacturers imagine that e-Paper can be used in a range of new product categories such as e-Readers. e-Paper is already used in the Amazon Kindle e-book reader. Sony has not yet revealed plans to mass produce this e-Paper prototype.
