ViewSonic has announced their first multitouch monitor called VX2258wm. The monitor is a 22-inch version that uses the infrared multitouch solution to detect gestures such as zooming, scrolling and clicking.

VX2258wm is the first multitouch display from ViewSonic. It utilizes the same infrared optical multitouch system as the Dell SX2210T to bring finger controlling to life.

The multitouch interface can be enabled in Windows Vista but in order to fully enjoy the multitouch experience you need Windows 7. However, VX2258wm cannot lay flat on the table.
The touch system on VX2258wm allows users to zoom by pinching fingers and to scroll by dragging. You can also imitate a mouse click by clicking with your finger on the screen.
VX2258wm has TN panel with 1080p resolution and a 5 ms response time. The contrast ratio is said to be 100.000:1 (dynamic) but just like most manufacturers ViewSonic has no static contrast ratio specification in the spec list. You can connect it via D-SUB (VGA) or DVI (with HDCP).
