TV manufacturers are still praising the OLED technology and Samsung is now talking about the outlooks regarding flexible and rollable OLED screens. Samsung expects to introduce rollable OLED-TVs in 2013 or 2014.
Rollable OLED-TV in a few years
The OLED technology opens up a whole new world of possibilities. One is bendable and rollable OLED panels that Samsung plans to introduce in 2013 or 2014.
In a recent interview, Senior Manager Kim Seong Cheol from Samsung Mobile Display (the OLED manufacturing division) said that Samsung has created 0.2 mm flexible AM-OLED panels and he also showed a prototype measuring 0.2 mm. Copy paper has a thickness of 0.1 mm.

Kim mentioned that Samsung has developed a OLED prototype that resembles a piece of paper. This panel is rollable and has an integrated touchscreen that lets you surf the content, just like if it was a newspaper in print form.

Kim Seong Cheol continued and said that Samsung can actually manufacture even slimmer OLED panels measuring just 0.1 mm, and Samsung plans to introduce such panels in OLED-TVs in 2013 or 2014. The rollable OLED newspaper will be commercialized in 2015.
