Bang & Olufsen has unveiled a new multi-functional remote control to replace the well-known Beo5. The new Beo6 remote has a larger touch-screen with optical bonding. It’s available in stores now.

Bang & Olufsen has unveiled their new Beo6 remote control for Bang & Olufsen TVs and music systems. Besides copntrolling B&O’s own products, Beo6 can also handle lighting, curtains and multi-room setups. Beo6 replaces Beo5 from today.
Beo6 is a natural successor to the popular Beo5 and is no huge revolution. The primary difference is a larger screen, now measuring 2.8-inches (Beo5 had a 2.4-inch screen). The screen has a resolution of 320x240 pixels which should improve picture quality considerably according to B&O. Additionally, Beo6 has WiFi support, which is used for two-way communication with other B&O devices but this function has not been enabled yet, so expect more information on this later on.

In the manufacturing of the screen a so-called optical bonding process has been utilized, to ensure no room between the glass front and the actual screen. With optical bonding reflections from windows and lamps are effectively reduced to create better picture quality and readability on the screen.
Now with real touch
The new screen in Beo6 has a real touch surface that works like a iPhone. Compared to the Beo5 where you had to push and keep your finger on the screen, the touch panel in Beo6 reacts instantly when touched.
These changes have resulted in a thinner screen but the grey aluminum bottom is left unchanged.
Beo6 is in stores now at around 500-550 Euro.
