It’s not really in the same league as Apple’s 10 billion App downloads but Samsung has announced that they have reached 2 million TV App downloads in a year. This number suggests that there’s certainly a market for Apps on flat panel TVs.
2 million TV App downloads
Samsung has reached 2 million TV App downloads after a year. Samsung reached 1 million in November and the quicker pace points to a promising TV App market for TV manufacturers.

Samsung TV Apps
Today Samsung’s App Store is available in 120 countries and features around 380 Apps, 259 of which are free. Samsung also says that they plan to ship 12 million so-called Smart TVs in 2011. A Smart TV is a TV that is internet enabled either via an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi.
Some of the most frequently downloaded applications from Samsung Apps are YouTube, Hulu Plus, ESPN Next Level, AccuWeather, Google Maps and Texas Holdem.
LG has also introduced TV Apps in their latest 2011 TVs.
