Sharp unveiled their 70-inch TVs at CES 2011 in Las Vegas in January. Sharp has now announced the model name, further details and an attractive US price. A European variant will also be available later but it will differ.

The world have seen larger TVs but not many that are available to us mortal beings. Sharp, however, intends to change that with their new 70-inch flat panel TV called 70LE732U (in the US).

The TV has a Full HD panel with Quattron, using four sub-pixel colors instead of three. The TV also uses backlit LED without local dimming. DLNA and 4 HMDI inputs is mentioned as well. On the other hand Sharp has made no references to 3D.

In the US you can expect access to services such as Netflix, Vudu and CinemaNow. None of these are available in Europe, but it demonstrates Sharp's focus on Smart TV functionality.

Sharp’s 70-inch TV will come in four different variants - called 70LE731U, 70LE732U, 70LE733U & 70LE734U - and is expected to be in stores this summer in the US. It’s also expected to go on sale in Europe. The TV has been confirmed to cost just 3800 USD, which is actually surprisingly low for a 70-inch TV. With this low price tag, Sharp hopes to appeal to users that are looking to replace their old rear projection model.
Sharp will also launch 1-2 70-inch TVs in Europe later this year but they will differ from this model. One of the differences is Edge LED instead of backlit LED.
