Last year we praised Sharp LE820 and the successor, LE830, is now in stores in the US and Europe. Sharp LE830 comes with extremely slim design with thin bezel and features LED, Wi-Fi and Smart TV Internet functionality.

Sharp's new 2011 line-up is beginning to take shape and LE830 is one of the first models to hit the market. With LE830 Sharp has focused on design, functionality and picture quality.

LE830 has a slim 2.5 cm frame with Edge LED. The bezel around the LCD panel is also extremely slim, creating an elegant and minimalistic look.

Sharp has equipped LE830 with their Quattron panel technology and a scanning backlight 200/240 Hz system that aims to improve picture quality in fast moving images. Sharp also promises higher contrast ratio and faster response time. LE830 is 3D Ready (only in EU), which means that the infrared emitter is built into the TV but that the 3D glasses are sold separately.

If we turn our attention to functionality we find a TimeShift recording function (only in EU) that enables users to pause and rewind live TV broadcasts. A new updated version of the AQUOS NET Smart TV platform has been integrated with a Video Store and access to Netflix, Vudu and CinemaNow (only in US). You can either connect the internet via cable or use a USB dongle to get a wireless connection.

Lastly, LE830 supports DLNA streaming for video, music and photos. With DLNA you can stream content from other devices in your home to Sharp LE830 over the home network.
