Samsung recently released their SA950 and SA750 ranges with TN panels. However, Samsung SA850 looks like a far more interesting monitor with its Super PLS panel targeted at graphic artists and photographers.

Super PLS is Samsung’s counterpart to IPS and therefore expected to carry the same picture characteristics that are found in for example Dell’s UltraSharp monitors and Apple’s iPhone 4. Such characteristics include accurate colors, semi-fast response time and much wider viewing angles than TN panels found in most PC monitors today.

The 24-inch monitor will feature an 16:!0 S-PLS panel with 1920x1200 resolution, 5 ms (g2g) response time and 1000:1 contrast ratio. Samsung also mentions 300 cd/m2 brightness and 178/178 viewing angles.
The 27-inch version features a 2560x1440 resolution S-PLS panel. No other specs are provided.
