Logitech Harmony Link controls TV via iOS/Android

Logitech has been in the universal remote control business for some time but now it seems that they take a step away from traditional remote controls and a huge step towards Apps for smartphones and tablets. With Logitech Harmony Link users can control all devices in the home – including the TV – from Apple and Android devices.

Almost every single electronic gizmo in the home is controlled via infrared even though the wireless network has been invented. So how do you make devices communicate, Logitech asks. You create an infrared transmitter than you can control with an App for Apple iOS and Google Android.


Logitech Harmony Link is a remote for smartphones / tablets

This product is called Logitech Harmony Link and it controls up to 8 devices inside the home. The App is available for all Android smartphones as well as Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. There is no App for Android tablets.

In the box Logitech has also included an extra infrared-eye (a small transmitter) for devices hidden away in furniture. Logitech says that the App even supports customizable macros, such as a “Turn off” button that turns off all devices in the home.

Logitech Harmony Link will cost 99 USD. The European price has not been disclosed.
