Samsung reaches 1000 TV Apps, 10m downloads

Samsung is pulling away from its competitors in the Smart TV area. Samsung announces that they have reached 1000 TV Apps and that users have downloaded more than 10 million Apps.

Samsung believes in the Smart TV trend and is aggressively pushing their platform. With Smart TVs users can download video-on-demand apps, news apps, social media apps and much more. And Samsung seems to take the lead after the first year of Smart TVs.

Samsung says that they have reached 1000 TV Apps on their Smart TVs – but these also include local apps. The most popular apps are YouTube, Maps, Accuweather, Vimeo and vTuner – not really a surprise, because these are all pre-installed.

Samsung also reports that they reached the 10 million downloads mark in September and they expect to react 11 million before the end of October. Samsung reached 5 million in May. The other manufacturers have not announced any numbers but looking at their Smart TV platforms it is clear that they still ahve some catching-up to do.
