In 2012 Panasonic wants to further integrate their Smart TVs into existing eco systems of smartphones and tablets, in order to make you share content. Panasonic’s 2012 Smart Viera TVs will also come with a new remote control and a new remote app.
Panasonic Smart Viera 2012
Panasonic has made updates to their Smart TV platform in 2011 and at CES they demonstrated further improvements. In the future Panasonic’s Smart TVs will be dubbed Smart Viera. Panasonic also demonstrated how they want to make their TVs part of the iOS and Android eco systems.

Panasonics has extended their integration and apps for the Apple iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Panasonic has not focused on an eco system strategy with sales of smartphones and tablets themselves, so instead they want to utilize the eco systems that are already widespread. With the new possibilities users can also push media content such as videos, music and images from handheld devices onto the TV screen.

Panasonic’s new Smart TVs with game apps and smartphone remote controlling
Panasonic is updating their remote app for smartphones and tablets as well, to make it function as, not only a TV remote, but also a game remote for games bought through the Smart Viera App Store.

Panasonic’s new Smart TVs can interact with tablets
Panasonic also demonstrated an interactive app that they are working on. Through a partnership with MySpace, Panasonic demonstrated how users can browse music videos or documentaries on the tablet screen and then push the content to the TV screen when the desired show has been found. The tablet screen remains on and shows interactive content about the show, actors etc.

New apps are also coming. One of particular interest is Flixster (based on Ultraviolet) that lets users register their DVDs to gain access to a digital version that can be accessed on TVs, smartphones, tablets, PC and more. Flixster even lets users share their content with up to 6 friends or family members. Above you see Panasonic’s Disney app with content from Disney such as eBooks.
