According to an analyst from Jefferies, Apple has received the first components for their coming HDTV. He says that production will start in May/June 2012 and that the TV will be available in the late 2012.
Apple TV in 2012?
Analyst Peter Misek from Jefferies, Apple analyst, says that Apple has started to receive "specialty components" in small quantities for production in Asia. He mentions polarizing filters, screen filters and display panels produced with the IGZO production method – none of those are utilized in today’s products.

The information has been picked up by Peter Misek himself after a trip to Asia. He describes how he saw "early production evidence of iTV". He also believes that production will be initiated around May/June this year and that the TV will become available in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Peter Misek estimates that Apple will produce between 2 to 5 million TVs for launch day.
Apple is also rumored to be working on another product for a late 2012 launch, based on a 7.85-inch display panel. Some speculate that it is a smaller iPad but recent rumors have indicated that this could instead be a remote / game controller for the coming Apple HDTV that will also act as a game console via apps and AirPlay.
