Philips ErgoSensor advices the user on posture

Philips has unveiled the first ErgoSensor PC monitor that advices the user on neck posture, seating distance and breaks. The 24-inch monitor also automatically switches off when you leave the screen and turn back on when your return.

Philips new office monitor is the first ErgoSensor monitor. Eizo released similar monitor in 2009 but Philips takes it one step further. They now also measure the users’ neck posture and provide advice.


Philips’ ErgoSensor monitor

The ErgoSensor relies on a small camera at the top that registers:
Viewing distance: ErgoSensor measures the distance from the user’s eyes to the screen and gives advice on the optimal position.
Posture: The ErgoSensor detects the user’s neck posture and helps the user avoid wrong postures.
Breaks:  The ErgoSensor keeps track of your work and suggests breaks when needed.


Philips’ ErgoSensor monitor 

The monitor uses a TN panel with 1920x1080 pixel resolution and edge LED that also helps reduce power consumption. Philips has also incorporated a small sensor that measures ambient lighting conditions in order to adjust brightness levels on the monitor panel. A sensor is also used to turn off the monitor when the user leaves – and to turn back on when the user returns.

Lastly, Philips mentions a base with height, tilt, rotation and pivot adjustment. All cables can be hidden inside. Connections include D-SUB, DVI, DisplayPort and four USB ports.

The Philips ErgoSensor monitor, dubbed 241P4LRYES, is available soon in Europe for 339 Euro and in the US for 450 USD.
