Apple has unveiled their new MacBooks and for us display enthusiasts there is a special surprise. A new extremely thin MacBook Pro features a Retina display; Apple’s term for extremely high-resolution displays.
Retina displays in MacBook Pro
It was rumored and now Apple has confirmed. A new thin 1.8 cm MacBook Pro model has been unveiled with a Retina display.
The new Macbooks has a Retina display
The new MacBook Pro has a 2880x1800 pixel resolution on the 15.4 inch display panel; or 220 ppi (pixels per inch). Apple says that it offers deeper blacks, wider viewing angles and an anti-reflective coating that reduces reflections by 75 %. Apple has also now confirmed that it is an IPS LCD screen similar to those found in iPhones and iPads. IPS panels provide far better picture quality and are not common in laptop; actually most laptops still use the cheap TN panels.
The new Macbooks has a Retina display
Apple first introduced the Retina term with the iPhone 4, and later it was expanded to the iPad 3. The Retina term refers to screens with pixel density that exceeds the human eye’s capacity to distinguish details from a typical viewing distance.
