TV apps coming to Apple TV?

We have heard rumors about TV apps on the Apple TV for some time. Now it seems that Apple is taking steps to launch the TV app store. With the new iOS 6 beta you can move icons on the home screen.

TV apps on Apple TV?
Before WWDC 2012, it was reported that Apple would introduce a new operating system with TV apps for their Apple TV box. It did not happen but in the iOS 6 beta Apple has made some changes.


In the iOS 6 beta users can move around the icons on the home screen which lays the road for TV apps

One developer reports that when holding down the Home button on the remote control users can make icons on the home screen wobble and move them around.

That may not sound significant but the exact same thing happened immediately before Apple introduced the App Store for the iPhone with the release of iOS 2.0. The Apple TV box currently has 8 GB of storage, which should be enough for apps but not for high-quality games.



Some people expect TV apps to launch on the Apple TV box before a full-fledged Apple TV launches to build up the TV platform. TV apps could include video services, quality games, photo services and much more.
