Samsung’s voice and gesture-enabled Smart TVs launched earlier this year but the voice and gesture controls have been met with deafening silence. Samsung hopes to change that and has opened the voice and gesture APIs to developers who wishes to use the features in their apps.
Samsung opens voice controls to developers
Samsung has released version 3.5 of their Samsung Smart TV SDK (software development kit) that app developers use to create TV apps.
Developers can now incorporate voice an gesture controls in the TV apps in Samsung’s Smart TVs
The new SDK give developers the tools to incorporate the voice and gesture control in their own apps. That way Samsung imagines that developers will embrace the features and let consumers control apps by talking or waving to their TV. Samsung has also made it easier for app developers to program new apps, it is said.
