Ex-CEO: TV market is Apple's to lose - production begun

The TV market is Apple’s to lose, former Apple CEO John Sculley says to Bloomberg. He believes that Apple can use its iOS eco system to take control over the living room with a TV. The production of Apple’s HDTV has already started, claims Jefferies.

TV market is Apple’s to lose

John Sculley was in charge at Apple for several years. He was not particularly successful but has since went on to establish an analyst company. He calls the TV market “Apple’s game to lose”, basically saying that he believes Apple is almost certain of success.

- “They own three screens — the mobile phone, tablet and computer — and you can see how important it is to them to own the fourth, which is TV,” Sculley says to Bloomberg.

He believes that Apple could dominate the TV market based on the strong iOS eco system.

- “People don’t realize how huge this is,” he said. “Microsoft wanted the living room, Sony wanted the living room, and so far both have failed.”

TV production started

Analyst Peter Misek of Jefferies claims to know that production of the rumored Apple flat panel TV has already started. Peter Misek previously said that he expected production to start in May/June.

- “Recent data out of Sharp, Hon Hai and other specialty chemical and TV component suppliers support this,” Misek writes in the analyst note.

Peter Misek believes that Apple’s TV screen could launch by the end of 2012. Peter Misek also says that production of Apple’s rumored iPad Mini has started.
