Toshiba has unveiled two new European TV models called RL9 and TL9. Both TVs feature Toshiba’s Smart TV platform and TL9 adds active 3D technology on top of that. The TVs will be exhibited for the first time at IFA 2012.
Toshiba RL9 and TL9
Toshiba's two new TVs are mid-range models. TL9 is the most advanced. The RL9 TVs will be available in 32” (32RL953) and 40” (40RL953) and the TL9 TVs will be available in 40” (40TL963) and 46” (46TL963).

Toshiba has aimed for a simple design and the RL9 is built with a simple, black frame that is relatively slim. The TL9 has a bezel in a stylish, brushed silver finish and a simple base.

Toshiba highlights the Toshiba Places platform which covers Toshiba’s Smart TV features. From here users can access online media such as movies and music, as well as social media services. The built-in DLNA technology allows users to stream media content from a PC or network hard drive on the home network. TL9 also incorporates WiDi technology, allowing users to stream video and pictures from a smartphones or tablet onto the TV screen. Lastly, Toshiba mentions an app for smartphones and tablets that will act as a remote control.

On the technical side we can tell that TL9 holds a 100 Hz system and TL9 holds a 200 Hz system. Built-in light sensors adjust the panel according to surroundings and edge LED is utilized as a light source for the LCD panels. RL9 has 3 HDMI inputs and TL9 has 4 HDMI inputs.
Toshiba's new TVs are rolling out in Europe in the next few weeks or months. Toshiba will exhibit the TVs for the first time at IFA 2012 in Berlin.
