LG debuts 21:9 format EA93, plus new EA83 monitor

Philips just left the 21:9 camp but LG still sees some potential here – when it comes to monitors, that is. At IFA 2012, LG will debut the 29-inch EA93 with the extra wide 21:9 aspect ratio, specifically designed for enjoyed movies. LG also debuts the EA83 monitor with 2560x1440 pixel resolution.

LG EA93 and EA83

LG has released a huge number of new PC monitors this year but the South Korean manufacturer is not done just yet. The two new IPS monitors will be out in November and the EA93 is a quite interesting addition.

The 29-inch EA93 is a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor. The ultrawidescreen display has a pixel resolution of 2560x1080, optimized for “movie watching”. Most movies today are produced in a format very close to 21:9 and therefore a 21:9 panel eliminates black bars at the top and bottom. LG says that the monitor is also aimed at multitasking, as it can act as a “4-way split screen”. Sources can be inputted through DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI.

LG is also releasing the 27-inch EA83 with 2560x1440 pixel resolution. The monitor is designed for graphic artists and photographers. The IPS panel can reproduce 99% of the Adobe RGB spectrum.

Both monitors will be exhibited at IFA 2012 in Berlin and will be available in November. Pricing details have not been announced.
