At Sony’s IFA press conference Sony CEO Kaz Hirai has just unveiled Sony’s new 84-inch 4K Bravia television. Sony believes that 4K is the next major breakthrough in the TV industry, after Full HD. The TV also comes with 10 speaker units for a complete home entertainment system. The TV is dubbed 84X900.

We had already heard some whispers but here it is. Sony has officially revealed their first 4K TV at IFA 2012 - and it is impressive.

4K resolution is four times higher than Full HD and on the large 84 inch panel pictures should look stunning. The exact resolution is 3840x2160 pixels, which scales perfectly to Full HD (1920x1080) so your Full HD Blu-rays will play without scaling. To handle the massive picture information Sony has developed the 4K X-Reality PRO chip. The TV also supports passive 3D and utilizes the cheap polarized 3D glasses used in movie theatres. All 3D Blu-ray discs are automatically upscaled to the 4K panel.
The TV not only offers impressive picture quality but also a complete sound system. 10 speakers have been integrated and Sony promises and almost 3D-like experience with deep bass. A ClearPhase+ technology processes sound.

The TV naturally comes with Sony Entertainment Network and internet services such as Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.
Sony's TV will launch by the end of 2012 and is called XBR-84X900 in the US and 84X900 in Europe. No pricing details have been announced.
