Panasonic has brought some new plasma panels to IFA 2012. First, a 145-inch plasma TV with 8K resolution. Second, a 103-inch glasses-free 3D TV. We go “eyes-on” in a later article.
8K, 4K and glasses-free 3D
Panasonic demonstrates that the plasma technology still has potential, and has implemented 8K resolution in a gigantic 145-inch plasma panel. For a TV that large, 8K resolution should start to make sense.
Panasonic’s 145-inch 8K TV is huge
The TV boasts a resolution of 7680x4320 pixels and has been developed in collaboration with Japanese NHK that has also been involved in the 8K Olympics broadcasting and Sharps’ 8K TV. Panasonic says that they have created an all-new pixel driving method for the 8K TV to avoid flicker.
Panasonic has also brought an all-new 103-inch glasses-free 3D TV, which easily beats Toshiba’s glasses-free 3D TV.
Lastly, Panasonic exhibits a 20-inch LCD panel with 4K resolution. Need we remind you that our big, beautiful 40-55 inch LCD-TVs still come with Full HD resolution – four times lower than 4K.
