LG has one, Sony announced one yesterday and now Toshiba also has claimed ownership of an 84” 4K TV. Toshiba’s edition is driven by Toshiba’s CEVO Engine 4K that takes advantage of the Cell chips found in the PlayStation 3.

What is going on here? We have seen three 84-inch TVs with 4K resolution in the last few days. Is there some kind of panel sharing going in the industry? Probably.

Toshiba’s 84-inch 4K TV is driven by Toshiba’s CEVO Engine 4K that has been updated to make pictures even more impressive on the mammoth TV. The CEVO Engine is powered by so-called Cell chips, also found in the PlayStation 3.
The TV has a slim bezel and incorporates Toshiba’s internet features.
Expect to hear more about Toshiba’s TV at CES 2013 in January. It will be available in both US and Europe in the first half of 2013. No word on pricing.
