LG: 5 years of TV design
In FlatpanelsHD’s series of TV design galleries we started with Sony and this Friday we dive into 5 years of LG designs. The South Korean electronics manufacturer - often referred to as Samsung’s smaller brother - experienced extreme growth when the LCD market took off. LG has never been afraid to try something alternative and it has been reflected in LG’s TV designs during the years.
This Friday we take a look of 5 years of LG TV design
A few years back LG was a master in getting attention at fairs and trade shows around the world. At IFA 2008 LG unveiled the provocative red line of TVs with a hole in the center. Next year, LG showcased an ultrathin wireless TV with an external media box. In the last few years, LG’s Borderless design philosophy has spawned TVs with extremely slim bezels.
The highlights of LG’s TV designs have been the 31-inch OLED-TV and the LM960V released in 2012. And later in 2012, LG aims to push TV design boundaries even further with the unrealistically thin 55-inch OLED-TV.
