Microsoft has begun certifying sound partners for the Xbox 360 eco system in an effort to improve sound quality for gamers and movie lovers. The first partner is Polk Audio with its SurroundBar 5000 product.

Polk is the first Xbox partner
Most people will agree that sound quality in modern TVs is not exactly great. Therefore, Microsoft has begun a partner programme. Today, Xbox 360 is positioned not only as a game console but also as a media player and Microsoft wants to improve the sound experience.

Microsoft says;

- “The Xbox 360 offers an immersive experience with a host of streaming services like Netflix, HBO GO, and MLB.TV, and unparalleled interactive features like voice control and cross-platform search, so in looking for a Premium Audio Solutions partner, we wanted a company with an equally innovative approach to sound,” says Branden Powell from the Xbox team.
“We chose Polk not only for that, but also for their leadership position in the speaker market, as well as their superior engineering capabilities.”


Polk SurroundBar 5000

The first product to be certified for the Xbox360 is Polk’s SurroundBar 5000. It is a soundbar with a wireless subwoofer. The subwoofer can be placed anywhere and only requires a power plug. The soundbar can be placed under a TV and fits most mid-range TVs as it measures 78.5 centimeters in width.

Polk has integrated Bluetooth that allows users to stream music from smartphones and tablets directly to the soundbar. Polk’s SurroundBar will be available in most markets in November but you can already learn more about it at Polk’s website.
